Day 3: MADRID: optional trip to Toledo
Breakfast. Today we recommend a full-day trip to Toledo (payment when booking the tour; excursion includes sightseeing with a local guide, minimum required to carry 18 passengers). Toledo is located about 70 kilometers from Madrid in the province of Castilla-La Mancha and was once the capital of Spain. Architecturally sumptuous, with a fantastic location, Toledo is a true chest with the treasure of Spanish construction. It is known as a city of three cultures - Christian, Jewish and Islamic, and in the Middle Ages the then most famous European translation school operated in it, and through Toledo translators the whole of Europe became acquainted with the works of ancient thinkers. Toledo is also the city of El Greco, because the famous painter lived and worked in that city. Upon arrival in Toledo, a guided tour of the city follows: Cathedral of Santa María - Monastery and Church of San Juan de los Reyes - Alcázar - Church of St. Tome (it houses the famous El Greco painting "The Funeral of Count Orgas") - Santa Maria La Blanca Synagogue - Plaza Zocodover. Shorter free time for personal programs. Return to Madrid at 3 pm. For those who still decide to stay in the city, it is an enjoyable time to visit, for example, the many famous Madrid museums: Madrid is world famous for its TVZ. The "Art Triangle", the corners of which make up the famed Prado - with the Louvre and Hermitage the most famous European museum - which houses the world-famous Royal Collection of Spanish and European Painting, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum at Villahermosa Palace, Baron Thyssen's famous private collection of works of art from Donatello, via Monet and Gauguin to Roy Lichtenstein, and to Centro del Arte Reina Sofía, once a city hospital, the famed Museum of Modern Art whose most famous exhibit is Picasso's "Guernica." And once you get into the art, we have no doubt that you will take advantage of the exceptional trade offer the Spanish capital has to offer: all the famous Spanish fashion brands in Spain are cheaper than in the rest of Europe! Free evening and return to the hotel in an individual arrangement. Overnight stay.
